A ControlLogix request might list a 1756 controller, an EtherNet/IP module, a power supply, and three I/O cards from the same chassis. If the processor has a firmware target, write it next to the processor rather than placing it in a general note. If the communication module links to remote I/O, identify that network role.
A CompactLogix request may be shorter, but it still needs structure. Record the controller, local I/O bank, end cap, and power unit. If a machine has several identical stations, add the station tag to every row. This prevents one machine's module list from being confused with another during follow-up.
When Both Platforms Exist in One Plant
Many facilities use ControlLogix for central process areas and CompactLogix for machines, packaging equipment, or smaller skids. Do not merge the two lists just because they share a brand.
